Junior Lawyers Division invite ULG to speak at The Law Society
18-06-2010
ULG were invited by the Junior Lawyers Division ("JLD") to deliver a key note speech at The Law Society for their LPC Student Forum event. The aim of this one day LPC student forum is to support the JLD's LPC student members in their search for training contract places and increase awareness of the issues they face.
The ULG team advised aspiring lawyers on how they can improve their future employability prospects as well as outlining the key issues facing new entrants to the legal profession.
Heidi Sandy, Chair of the JLD committee said: "Students enjoyed a packed programme of advice and practical tips including motivational talks from Craig Robinson and Kofi Owusu-Bempah who both experienced challenges to obtaining training contracts. Their stories are an inspiration to students to continue to strive forward with their careers when faced with difficulties. We hope that the forum gave our LPC members opportunity to hear advice and practical tips from those that have in the past faced the same challenges they now face. Feedback from the forum has been very positive and we hope to see more of our student members at our next forum in the autumn".

ULG offered useful, personal anecdotes on how to make a success of life as a trainee and also provided students with further top tips on how to ensure a smooth integration into legal practice. Throughout the day, one to one practical CV clinics were also available with students receiving personalised feedback on the quality of their CVs and practical ways they could be improved. There was also some policy discussion break out sessions and a chance to network over a glass of wine at the end of the action-packed day.
