Tony Williams - Principal of Jomati Consultants
Tony Williams has more than thirty years’ experience in the legal profession, occupying senior management positions as well as direct client handling and fee earning. Tony Williams is a principal of Jomati Consultants which is a UK based legal consulting business. He specialises in advising law firms on a range of strategic issues including a firm’s strategic focus, partner review and remuneration issues. He also advises a range of primarily US and UK based firms on merger related issues including preparation, market research, deal facilitation and post merger integration. Before establishing Jomati Consultants Tony spent almost 20 years at Clifford Chance where he was elected worldwide managing partner in 1997 and prior to his managing partner role he was a corporate partner in London, Hong Kong and the managing partner of the firm’s Moscow office.
Tony mentors Craig Robinson, and also assists with our charity – Ultimate Law Guide Foundation. Our mentoring and training project helps to widen access to the legal profession, increase social mobility and help talented students from under-privileged backgrounds fulfil their promise and go on to forge fulfilling and worthwhile legal careers. Our foundation charity will be launched later this year.
Werten Bellamy - President of Stakeholders Inc.
Werten Bellamy is the President of Stakeholders, Inc., a company founded in 2007 that provides training and conference resources directed to the active career management needs of corporations and service firms. Werten focuses on the role in-house counsel, law firm associates and partners must play in driving their career outcomes and is directed to identifying the practical career strategies of top performers. Stakeholders has delivered training and consulting to over seventy-five (75) global law firms and law departments. In 2010, Werten was selected by the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD) to design and help implement its talent development efforts directed to top performing law firm and law department attorneys. Werten is also the author of The Path to Indispensable: The Junior Associate. Werten launched Stakeholders following sixteen (16) years of practice in both law firms and law departments. Werten began his career as an Associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Kutak Rock. The next twelve (12) years of his career he spent in in-house positions of increasing responsibility, at companies to include Merck & Co., Inc., Genetics Institute, Inc. and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Werten completed his in-house career with Celera Genomics (NYSE: CRA), the biotechnology company located in Rockville, Maryland and credited with sequencing the human genome. At Celera, Werten was the General Counsel. Werten is also a retired captain in the United States Army. Werten has been honored for his civic and professional achievements, to include: The Chairman's Award, National Bar Association, The Excellence In the Practice Award, American Corporate Counsel Association and the Trailblazer Award, CYOC Foundation.
Jeremy Tobias-Tarsh – Commercial Director of Practical Law Company
Jeremy Tobias-Tarsh is the commercial director of Practical Law Company (“PLC”). PLC is the leading provider of legal know-how, transactional analysis and market intelligence for lawyers. PLC provide the high-value, practical know-how that lawyers need daily. This includes written analysis of current legal developments, practice notes (legal situations lawyers face and how the law treats them), standard draft documents, and checklists for managing actions. The services cover a range of legal areas such as commercial, corporate, arbitration, competition, construction, employment, finance, pensions, tax, and so on. PLC work closely with law firms and in-house law departments, to provide innovative and practical solutions in know-how, technology and practice development.
Jeremy trained and qualified as a corporate lawyer at Clifford Chance in 1995. In 1999, Jeremy joined Paul Hastings corporate department. Jeremy is also the co-founder of Totallylegal.com. Jeremy joined Practical Law Company in 2002. He became a director of the company in 2004 and has also undertaken the role of head of professional support services. Jeremy has been a significance source of mentoring and pastoral support for Ultimate Law Guide since our inception. Jeremy also assists with the management of Ultimate Law Guides growth strategy and future direction.
Elaine Hutton - EU General Counsel at Bare Escentuals
Elaine is the EU General Counsel at Bare Escentuals. She was previously vice president at Paramount Pictures and former Head of Legal at Apple. Elaine was the first Europe-based solicitor for the company. Elaine advised Apple on the expansion of its retail stores across Europe.
Elaine trained and qualified as a solicitor at Clifford Chance, and has also worked in-house at Channel 4 and Goldman Sachs. Elaine was also the Legal & Business Affairs Vice President at Fremantle Media - one of the largest international creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world. Fremantle Media is a truly global TV company and one of the largest international creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world. These include The X Factor.
